Description
This session will help community pharmacists develop an approach to the diagnosis and management of uncomplicated UTI, shingles and penicillin allergy. In addition, there will be a particular focus on avoiding common pitfalls when encountering these common conditions. Participants will also learn how to spot red flags that might indicate a complication requiring urgent or specialist evaluation.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Apply simple strategies to diagnose and treat acute uncomplicated urinary tract infections (e.g., acute bacterial cystitis).
- Approach the assessment and management of patients with suspected shingles.
- Identify and address common pitfalls in managing patients with a penicillin allergy label.
