Rhys Sison, Year 1
I chose the BPSc program because it is one of only two programs of its kind in Canada, making it a unique and specialized pathway into the pharmaceutical sciences field. I was drawn to the variety of career paths it offers, including opportunities in research, drug development, regulatory affairs, and healthcare.
Muse Park, Year 3
The fact that BPSc has a prescribed curriculum that guarantees the opportunities to take the high-quality Pharm Sci courses with sufficient hands-on lab time was really attractive to me. For example, in PHAR 304, I completed a 12-week laboratory project involving the integration of commercially synthesized DNA into bacterial genomes to induce and characterize recombinant protein expression. Through BPSc, I developed technical proficiency in methods such as PCR, SDS-PAGE, and ELISA, all of which prepare me well for a career in the pharmaceutical sciences industry.
Marisa Pinto, Year 4 (Experiential Stream)
I chose the BPSc program because it is a specialized degree that develops the key technical and professional skills required for a career in the biotechnology industry. The program features rigorous laboratory courses designed to mirror real-world industry settings, to gain hands-on experience with fundamental techniques in state-of-the-art facilities. In addition to technical training, the BPSc curriculum emphasizes communication and teamwork through collaborative projects and presentations. The fourth-year practicum option provided valuable industry experience, which ultimately helped me secure a post-graduate internship.
